Serenity Couture's Stylist Spotlight

Sam Watson’s journey with Serenity Couture began not with a pair of shears, but at the reception desk. Her natural curiosity made her the person who was always asking, What does that tool do? or How are you doing that? until a fellow stylist finally gave her the nudge she needed: "Just go to hair school."

14 years later, and Sam is a veteran stylist of our West Des Moines Salon & Spa, known for her deep-rooted relationships, a passion for education, and a belief that great hair starts with even better communication.

Sam combines her extensive expertise with a genuine love for her guests, ensuring every person who sits in her chair feels heard, understood, and inspired.

A Passion for Sharing Knowledge

Sam is a lifelong learner who believes that knowledge is meant to be shared, not kept a secret. Whether she is attending a new class or mentoring others, she finds that teaching is one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

"I am a full believer that knowledge shouldn't just be a little secret you keep," she explains. "I am so passionate about helping other people learn and grow — it actually helps me learn because I see things through the people I’m teaching."

The Art of Communication

For Sam, doing hair is about much more than a service — it’s a relationship. She views communication as the foundation of a great salon experience.

"It's an art, really," she says. "The best thing you can do is be humble. You don’t know what anybody is going through or exactly what they are wanting. If you can really fine-tune your communication, that is where the success is."

That humility and dedication to relationship-building has earned Sam the trust of her clients, creating a space where guests feel comfortable and in control, while still benefiting from her professional "flair."
